During our recent visit to Hunkapi, Terra Schaad, Hunkapi's Founder and Executive Director led a tour around the property. Hunkapi is a non-profit that stemmed from a sports therapy program offered at Arizona State University(ASU). During this program's research, Equine Therapy showed tremendous results when compared to other sports programs. This program at ASU has since ended, but Terra continued to provide Equine Therapy by founding Hunkapi.
Hunkapi is located on the last 10-acre lot on the Scottsdale Cactus Road corridor, with stables, chicken coops, and a large horse arena. Hunkapi's facility is home to horses, bovines, chickens, pigs, dogs, and more! These friendly animals, along with extensively trained staff, provide various forms of therapy to Hunkapi's clients. Along with animal therapy, Hunkapi houses canine companions for individuals working through rehabilitation programs. The Rotary Club of Scottsdale North has made a donation, in honor of late animal lover and Rotarian, Rhody Esmay. We sincerely thank Hunkapi for dedicating stall 3 of the canine housing program to Rhody.
