Club News & Stories
Daniel Hagerty, Chief Advancement and Engagement Officer at the Heard Museum, was our featured speaker last night at the Scottsdale North Rotary Club meeting. Dan described the founding and history of the Heard, which is recognized as the world’s largest museum for the presentation of American Indian  Art.
Members of the Scottsdale North Rotary Club participated in the Good Neighbor Holiday party at the Foothills Food Bank’s new facility on December 12 by serving hotdogs and providing fruit to nearly 600 people. The neighbors were provided toys, blankets, boots, socks and special snack bags along with other thoughtful gifts. All had fun!
We received a very nice thank you letter from the Foothills Bank:

Dear North Scottsdale Rotary,
We are so grateful to have received your generous donation of four $50 gift cards, as well as the many items from our Amazon Wish List! Your support will make a big difference for families in our community this holiday season.
Attached is a formal acknowledgment of your donation for your records.
Thank you again for helping us bring joy and support to our neighbors!
Warmly, Barb Shehan
The Rotary Club of Scottsdale North held its 15th annual Chili Cook-Off at the home of Stacy and Kevin Edwards on November 1 raising money for  the Scottsdaie North Rotary Foundation which makes donations during the year to local charities. Food was also collected for the Foothills Food Bank. The festive music adding to the gala atmosphere was provided by the New Deal Band.
On September 10th the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North met at their new meeting place - The Talon Room in the Grayhawk Community Center on Thompson Peak Parkway.  During the meeting our new President, Nina (center) presented our Rotary Foundation Chair, Ann (left) with her Paul Harris plus one pin, and Diana (right) with her Paul Harris plus 7 pin. Congratulations Ann and Diana.  Please see our web page
for more information about our Club and rotary.org for more info about a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.

Members of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North met this morning to help stuff handbags and back packs for women and men coming out of Rehab, as well as backpacks filled with a coloring book, crayons, a little stuffed animal and candy to be given to their children. Some of this was made possible through our $5000 grant to help Purse Impressions continue to assist those in need at a special time in their life.  Donations of gently used purses, costume jewelry and scarves are sold in the boutique to raise monies to purchase items not donated. Here is a photo with our “crew” and Patricia, in the Christmas sweater, the amazing woman who started this charity.
The Rotary Club of Scottsdale North honored members Past President Michael and Fundraiser Chair Laurie for their over and above contributions to our Rotary Club through the years.  The Paul Harris Award and pin were also given by Ann, Rotary Foundation Chair, (pictured) to Abby, Social Chair, at our Club’s 15th Anniversary Celebration in October.  Paul Harris is the founder of Rotary (1905) and this award is earned by members for “Service Above Self” and donating to the Rotary Foundation.

On Saturday, October 19th, seven members of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North picked up and bagged trash on “our” one mile section of Pima Rd. between Dynamite and Jomax.  We do this every six months - April and October -when it isn’t SO hot here in the Valley of the Sun.  Afterward, as always, we met for a hearty breakfast at The General Store.
The Rotary Club of Scottsdale North is proud to welcome two new members, Jennie, a relocating Rotarian, and Amy, new to Rotary.  Shown in this photo at the September 25, 2024 Club Meeting are Membership Chair Carl, Jennie and Amy.  All the members present at the meeting gave a warm welcome and were ready to sign them up for a committee, volunteer activity, or our 15th Anniversary Party in October!

The Rotary Club of Scottsdale North presented a check for $5000 to the non-profit New Pathways for Youth.  Accepting the grant were, Karen Johnson and John Patris-Browne. New Pathways for Youth’s mission is to transform the lives of youth in Phoenix who are experiencing poverty and three times the adversity of their peers by providing the support, stability, and skills they need to flourish in the community and in their families. On September 25, 2024, the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North presented Purse Impressions, a Cave Creek non-profit that gives purses and backpacks to Rehabilitation Graduates, a check for $5000. They will use this donation to purchase  necessities they pack into each purse or backpack donated to ReHab Centers.  Their Cave Creek Boutique sells gently used donated accessories - such as purses, scarves, jewelry - to then purchase these basics. Pictured with Club President Tom are Club Sponsor Nina and Purse Impressions President and Founder, Patricia Brusha.
